Fauna observations with special reference to mollusca of the root system of waterhyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes)

Study on the occurence of several groups of aquatic animals, either in larval or adult forms, on the waterhyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in several waters in Sumatra and Java has been conducted. A structural analysis and habitat preferences of the animals present on the waterhyacynth root system in two types of waters, i.e. lotic and lentic waters, are discussed. More detailed analysis has been made for the molluscan species present on the root system.
