Dynamics of perennial plants in the mulga (Acacia aneura F. Muell.) zone of Western Australia, 1. Rates of population change
1986
Gardiner, H.G. (Western Australian Dept. of Agriculture, Kununurra)
Populations of 6 species were studied over 7 years during which a series each of wet and dry years occurred. Domestic livestock were excluded, but the effect of grazing by kangaroos and euros was investigated. In wet years, all species benefited when ungrazed; grazing reduced recruitment of Maireana glomerifolia. In dry years, 3 species showed resistance to drought, and grazing had little additional effect on species responses.
