The heritability of resistance to dermatophilosis was estimated by establishing high and low selection lines of parents and examining differences amongst their progeny. When sufficient time was allowed for establishment of the infective organism, realised estimates of liability ranged from 0.11 to 0.14, suggesting that selecting against sheep which show symptoms of dermatophilosis will slowly increase the average resistance of the flock.
