Plant breeding for the wheatbelt [Western Australia]. [Seminar paper]
1985
Whan, B.R. (Western Australian Dept. of Agriculture, Perth. Plant Production Div.)
It takes from 10-14 years to develop a new variety from the initial cross to time of release, and 4 stages must be completed. As varieties perform differently under different management there is the possibility that plant breeding could cater to the different management systems eg. acid soils, yellow-spot resistance, herbicide tolerance, and high rainfall.
