[Nodulation and N uptake in common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) under different moisture conditions]

English. A field experiment was established with two common bean cultivars, Flor de Mayo Bajio (FMB) and Bayocel to assess the effect of 5 water treatments on crop development and yield. The 5 moisture treatments used were: 1.- control well irrigated, 2.- mild and 3.- severe water stress during the reproductive stage, 4.- mild stress during vegetative and, 5.- mild stress during all the growth period. Data were recorded on phenology, nodule number, yield and nitrogen content. Water stress during the reproductive stage affected nodulation more than when applied during the vegetative stage. Irrigating after vegetative water stress allowed the recovery of nodulation. In both cultivars, seed yield and total nitrogen content were reduced by more than 100% under severe water stress. Under water stress, the harvest index was higher in cultivar FMB as compared to Bayocel, indicating a better distribution of dry matter in FMB under these conditions. However, under all treatments Bayocel showed a higher yield than FMB. With regard to phenology, water stress during the vegetative stage delayed maturity, but accelerated it when applied during the reproductive stage

Con el fin de evaluar el efecto de 4 tratamientos de humedad sobre el desarrollo del cultivo y el rendimiento de grano, se establecio un experimento de campo con 2 cultivares de frijol: Flor de Mayo Bajio (FMB) y Bayocel. Los tratamientos de humedad utilizados fueron: 1.- un testigo sin agobio hidrico, 2.- moderado, 3.- severo agobio hidrico en etapa reproductiva, 4.- moderado agobio hidrico en etapa vegetativa y 5.- moderado agobio hidrico durante todo el ciclo del cultivo. Se tomaron datos de fenologia, numero de nodulos, rendimiento y contenido de nitrogeno. El agobio hidrico durante el estado reproductivo afecto mas la nodulacion que durante el estado vegetativo. La aplicacion del riego despues del agobio hidrico durante el estado vegetativo permitio la recuperacion de la nodulacion. En ambos cultivares el rendimiento de grano y la extraccion total de nitrogeno se redujeron en mas de 100% bajo agobio hidrico severo. Por otro lado, el indice de cosecha fue mayor en el cultivar FMB indicando una mejor distribucion de materia seca de este genotipo bajo condiciones de sequia. No obstante, bajo todos los tratamientos, Bayocel mostro un mayor rendimiento que FMB. En relacion con la fenologia, el agobio hidrico durante la etapa vegetativa retraso la madurez y la acorto cuando este se impuso durante la etapa reproductiva
