The thoughts of a District Adviser are presented. The client group is discussed in relationship to the adviser's role. The importance of farmer participation is looked at as are the sources that farmers use for their information. The Extension officer is seen to be a less important source of information than other farmers. The Extension officer, his role, and his own information sources and effectiveness are looked at. The use of groups is emphasized as are the use of demonstrations and research as a vehicle for the extension message. Communications systems considered important are personal contact and the possibility of data networks in the future.
