Sunflower hybrids TURBO and FAVORIT present a very good resistance against the attack of Orobanche cumana parasites, fact confirmed by the good yield results registered within the ecological network of the Research Institute for Cereals and Industrial Crops Fundulea, as well as, under the natural infestation at Pantelimon-Constanta county and in Turkey. The stability of the seed and oil yields of the two hybrids is ensured by the value of maternal line LC-1093 A, created within the breeding process of sunflower at the Fundulea Institute. Beside the very good resistance against Orobanche cumana parasite, LC-1093 A line presents a good resistance against thermo-hydric stress, a trait also transmitted to the hybrid combinations at which it participates. The high yielding ability of the hybrids at which LC-1093 A line participates is explained by a long period of accumulation of dry matter, this period being of 44 days. The value of this line results also from the high oil content in the seeds of the hybrids to which it participates, the average of these values being of 52 percent.
