An attempt of epizootiologic analysis of salmonellae isolated from pigs in Slovenia from January 1979 to June 1991

From Januar 1979 to June 1991 148 strains of salmonellae were isolated from pigs of different categories and owners (private breeders, cooperative breeders, industrial farms, army farms, sloughter houses, food industry and marketing), pork and slurry from pig farms. They belonged to 21 serovars, one to grup C1 and one strain remained undeterminated. These strains represented 4.61 of all strains isolated in this period and 22.6 of isolated serovares. S. choleaesuis was the serovar most frequently found (39.68 of strains), S. heidelberg (9.46), S. typhimurium (7.34), S. derby, S. enteritidis and S. infantis (5.41 each) were frequent too. The comparison of serovars found in pigs with the followed serovars found in feedstuffs, food of animal origin and men was made.
