Genotypic variation in nitrogen and nitrate content of radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

English. Research was carried out with 13 early radish cultivars to determine total-nitrogen, organic nitrogen and nitrate-nitrogen content in roots and leaves. Significant genotypic differences were observed for these characteristics. Nitrogen uptake and nitrate reduction appeared to vary independently. Prospects are discussed for selecting radish with a lower nitrate content in the roots on the basis of both components separately
