Green manure crops: the organic alternative for improving soils

The prime objective of growing green manure crops is to provide organic matter and plant nutrients to the soil. The benefits of using green manure crops are improved soil physical properties and nutrient status, improved soil conservation, improved management conditions and reduced chemical input. Factors influencing the use of green manure crops are discussed, as well as selecting a green manure crop, and growing conditions of common green manures.
