The effect of fertilization on the yield and nitrogen uptake with repeated cultivation of silage maize

Field stationary trials with repeated cultivation of silage maize were conduced to study the effect of ammonium sulphate, liquid DAM fertilizer, effect of combination of winter wheat straw + DAM, manure and pig slurry on the biomass yield and nitrogen uptake by plants. The highest dry matter yield was achieved in the second experimental year (+6.9 % against first year), the lowest one was in the third experimental year (-26.4 % against first year). The highest inter-year fluctuation was recorded with unfertilized treatment. When ammonium sulphate was applied, 7.6 % increase against control was attained. When DAM fertilizer was applied, yields did not increase in long-term average. Positive effect of organic fertilization was shown particularly in long-term cultivation of maize as monoculture. An application of liquid manure was the most effective. When nitrogenous commercial fertilizers were applied nitrogen content in plants increased. In the control treatment 132 kg N.ha/1 was taken on average. In ammonium sulfate nitrogen uptake was higher almost by 20 %, in DAM by 12 %, in DAM + straw by 11 %, in manure by 9 % and in dung by 15 %. Average uptake standard was calculated, that is 3.6 kg N.t/1 of fresh biomass at the content of 30 % dry matter.
