Pineapples, playing-fields and politicians: industry restructuring and the agricultural economist [Australia]
1992
Brown, C.G. (Queensland Univ., St Lucia (Australia). Dept. of Agriculture)
Agricultural economists should become more involved in the debate concerning industry policy in order to guide suitable intervention when the conditions demand it. There is need for more understanding of the policies and conditions existing in other countries to enable a more strategic response in production and marketing. Agricultural economists require a good working knowledge of the rural industry in order to formulate appropriate policies.
