Carry-over of zearalenone into bovine milk after longtime application
1995
Goll, M. | Valenta, H. | Oldenburg, E.
Milk and plasma levels of ZEA, a-ZEA and b-ZEA were determined after feeding lactating cows over a period of 9 weeks with ZEA contaminated maize silage. The ZEA content in the maize silage was 20-50 ug/kg dry matter (DM). The maximum daily intake was about 500 ug per cow and did not result in detectable ZEA or a-ZEA and b-ZEA levels neither in plasma nor in milk. The analyses of b-ZEA in milk have not been completed yet. The conclusion is that a common ZEA level (50 ug/kg DM) in silage does not result in detectable ZEA or a-ZEA levels in milk of dairy cows.
