1997
Rasheed, W. (Punjab Forest Training Inst., Faisalabad (Pakistan)) | Athar, M.
Livestock production is an agricultural activity in Pakistan contributing about one fourth to agricultural gross domestic products. Despite the importance of livestock in agricultural production, it has been the subject of much less research than the crops. The information regarding livestock of Pothwar area is scanty. The present study was initiated to record the total number, health and feeding pattern of livestock of Rawal Experimental Watershed Area. Major constraints in livestock production of the area are poor nutrition due to overgrazing, lack of range management, and animal mortality due to disease and parasite problems. The present study is of basic nature. This would not only help in the identification of local problems and resources but also would assist in the better management of resources and future planning of farming system in Pakistan.
