Contaminants in currants
1996
Goeboe, A. | Revayova, D. | Kovac, J. (Vysoka Skola Polnohospodarska, Nitra (Slovakia))
Contents of nitrates, lead, cadmium, mercury and copper were determined in a trial with nine currant varieties. Three-year results confirmed low nitrate content in currant berries. The lowest nitrate content was found in black currant varieties ('Favorit'- 18.11 mg/kg), the highest in white currant varieties ('Blanka'- 28.9 mg/kg). The effect of climatic conditions of the year and irrigation was not significant. The lowest values of heavy metal content were observed in black currant varieties, in which the permitted concentrations of heavy metals in berries were exceeded in copper content only.
