The objective of the experiments was to study the content of Se in milk of dairy cows of the Czech Pied breed randomly selected in some herds in South Moravia. Prior to the analysis, the samples were centrifuged and kept at a temperature of -20 degrees C. Selenium content in milk was determined by means of the method of atomic absorption spectrometry, hydride technology (HGAAS), using the apparatus VARIAN SPECTR AA 400. Samples of milk were mineralized with HNO3 and Mg(NO3) and burnt in a muffle furnace. The average content of selenium in analyzed samples ranged from 32.2 to 39.5 micro g.l-1. The concentration of Se in milk was insufficient.
