Today, many German technical cooperation (TC) projects -conservation of natural resources, range management, regional development projects,etc. - have a land-use-planning (LUP) component. The experience of over 100 TC projects has been compiled in a manual drafted by the GTZ working group Integrated Land-Use-Planning and published in 1995. The GTZ LUP concept is based on intensive dialogue among all participants. Furthermore, LUP endeavours to adapt to local conditions both methodologically and substantively and to elaborate local environmental know how and traditional methods for problem-solving and conflict resolution.
