Effects of different protein levels on the growth and survival of red nifi fry, Oreochromis niloticus

The experiment aimed to examine the effects of different protein levels on the growth and survival of red nifi fry. The experiment was conducted in aquariums of 30x30x30 cm. The aquarium was filled with seawater (25 ppt salinity). Newly-hatched larvae (190 mg/ind.) was stocked with a density of 5 ind./liter. The fry were fed with artificial diet with different levels of protein namely 15.6, 18.6, 27.4, 32.9, and 37.3 percent for treatment A, B, C, D, and E, respectively. Each treatment were triplicate. The results showed that there were significant differences (P0.05) among treatment means of both growth and survival. The daily growth rates were 7.1, 8.0, 9.4, 9.5 and 7.7 percent for treatments A, B, C, D, and E, respectively. The survival rates were 88.7, 88.3, 93.7, 93.3, and 97.0 percent for treatments A, B, C, D, and E, respectively
