Effect of degumming of several clones of raw rami fiber (chinagrass) on quality and lignin content

English. A CRD experiment with 3 replications to study the effect of degumming process on the quality of several clones of raw Rami fiber (China-grass) has been conducted. There were eight clones of raw ramie fiber ie Pujon 10, Pujon 301, Pujon 13, Pujon 302, Indochina, Bagi Wachucho, Philipina and Florida. A solution of NaOH 6 percent, Na-sulphite 3 percent, Natripolyphosphate 3 percent and tepol 1 percent were used in degumming process. Time duration of cooking with the solution was two hours at one atmosphere pressure. The process used was one time cooking process with the solution. Result showed that there were no significant difference on the fiber strength after the process. The lignin content of some of the degummed fiber was higher than the maximum allowable lignin content (7-9 percent). The lignin content of the clones: Pujon 10, Pujon 301, Pujon 13, Pujon 302, Indochina, Bagi Wachucho, Philipina and Florida after degumming process were as follows: 14.08, 13.46, 8.75, 14.34 12.29, 9.28, 6.67 and 16.41 percent. There are no significant difference on the fiber strength of each clone after degumming process. The yield degummed fibre for the clones: Pujon 10, Pujon 301, Pujon 13, Pujon 302, Indochina, Bagi Wachucho, Philipina and Florida were as follows : 73.09, 71.47, 73.64, 72.07, 73.88, 76.43, 73.32 and 72.85 percent
Show more [+] Less [-]Indonesian. Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh degumming beberapa klon rami terhadap kualitas serat serta kadar lignin yang masih tersisa. Ada 8 klon rami yang dicoba untuk keperluan ini yaitu Pujon 10, Pujon 301, Pujon 13, Pujon 302, Indochina, Bagi Wachucho, Philipina dan Florida. Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga ulangan dipakai untuk percobaan ini. Resep degumming yang dipakai adalah pemasakan bahan dengan larutan NaOH 6 persen, Na-sulfit 3 persen, Na-tripolifosfat 3 persen dan teepol 1 persen. Bahan dimasak selama dua jam pada tekanan 1 atmosfir. Asam cuka 1 persen dipakai untuk menetralkan sisa NaOH. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses degumming satu tahap saja belum dapat menurunkan kadar lignin sampai batas yang dapat ditoleransi (7-9 persen). Kadar lignin klon-klon Pujon 10, Pujon 301, Pujon 13, Pujon 302, Indochina, Bagi Wachucho, Philipina dan Florida sesudah proses degumming adalah sebagai berikut : 14,08, 13,46, 8,75, 14,34, 12,29, 9,28, 6,67 dan 16,41 persen. Pada perlakuan tersebut, kekuatan serat belum menunjukkan perbedaan nyata antar klon. Rendemen serat hasil degumming klon-klon Pujon 10, Pujon 301, Pujon 13, Pujon 302, Indochina, Bagi Wachucho, Philipina dan Florida adalah sebagai berikut : 73,09, 71,47, 73,64, 72,07, 73,88, 76,43, 73,32 dan 72,85 persen
