Brewer's and molasses yeast in broiler rations

This research was conducted in order to investigate the using possibilities of brewer's and molasses yeast (Saccachromyces cerevisiae) in broiler diets rich in sunflower seed meal in order to save valuable but expensive protein sources such as fishmeal and soyabean meal. In this trial by decreasing the part of soyabean meal birds were fed with pelleted diets containing 0/3/6/9 and 12 % yeast for 6 weeks. 20 % sunflower-seed meal was the constant protein source for all the diets. While half of diets were containing 4 % fishmeal, the other did not and trial consisted of 20 groups. According to the obtained results, using of brewer's and molasses yeast the diets up to 12 % level did not show any statistical difference in live weight of the broilers, but showed an improvement in tendency. In this trial, diets without fishmeal had more important effect than diets with fishmeal (p below 0,05) and diets containing molasses yeast had more important effect than diets with brewer's yeast (p below 0,01). From the point of view of feed efficiency, no significant differences were obtained between the groups.
