The use of energy for soil tillage by the implements with passive working elements

The use of energy for soil tillage by the implements with passive working elements was determined on a loam soil of optimal moisture. From the measurement of pulling force, torque on drive wheels, tractor speed, passage with and without slippage the necessary pulling force, the power necessary for the control of slippage and rolling resistance and the slippage were calculated. The use of energy for soil tillage was expressed by specific work. It was established that a great part of the engaged power (from 42.3 to 57.7%) was required for the control of rolling resistance and slippage of drive wheels. With plough 41% more power per 1 meter of working width was used than with disc harrow and 60% more than with seedbed combination. The use of energy per volume unit of tilled soil was almost the same while considerably larger amount of energy at specific work per surface unit was spent by plough.
