Identification of Slovene potato cultivars (Solanum tuberosum L.) by sds-page of tuber proteins

Total tuber proteins from ten Slovene potato cultivars (Solanum tuberosum L.) were analysed using SDS-PAGE electrophoresis. High sensitive silver staining was introduced to resolve proteins for use as biochemical markers in potato. In the region between 66 and 36 kDa, the electrophoregrams exhibited five protein bands. In terms of band mobility and band intensity, four cultivars had unique electrophoregrams, while the other six could be divided into three groups, each containing two cultivars.
