Growth and distribution of Sorbus domestica and Sorbus torminalis in the Moravian Carpathians
1998
Prudic, Z.
In the Moravian Carpathians Sorbus domestica can be held as a xerotherm relict. The reasons for this statement are given. The domestic service tree is more scattered in this region in the agricultural landscape than in the woods. The wild service tree occupies ca. 6 ha of timber land. The productivity of both wood species was studied in the 85 years old high forest stand of oak and larch at the sites of Fageto-Quercetum and Corneto-Quercetum. The growth of both Sorbus species is better in Fageto-Quercetum.
