Utilization of biochemical markers in breeding systems of oil seed rape and allied plants

In this contribution the utilization of the method of isozyme and protein electrophoresis in oil seed rape breeding is discussed. The narrow genetic diversity of recent oil seed rape varieties is mirrored also in the relatively narrow isozyme and protein polymorphism. Isozyme markers should be utilized in the system of purity testing of seed lots, and especially in the testing of homogeneity and identification of androgenetic lines.
