The uptake of cadmium, zinc, arsenic and lead by chosen crops

The oat for silage, maize to a height of 90 cm, spring barley and poppy were subsequently planted in luvisols with pH 6.8, CEC 240 mval.kg*[-1], COX 2.0% and with the total content of the following heavy metals: Cd 0.73, Zn 154.05, As 58.38 a Pb 43.20 mg.kg*[-1]. Direct and subsequent effect of lime, bentonite and manure application on accumulation of Cd, Zn, As and Pb in different parts of growing plants was investigated. Results have shown different accumulation of heavy metals in growing crops. The highest concentrations of Cd and Zn were found in the maize biomass, As and Pb were maximum accumulated in poppy capsules. The total intake of investigated heavy metals by aboveground biomass was the highest in spring barley for Cd, Zn and As. The highest intake of Pb was recorded in maize. The manure application only decreased Cd concentration in biomass for longer time.
