Laboratory experiments were carried out to examine the effect of four fungicides on spore germinating potentialities, radial qrowth and survival of viable propagules in soil of five phytopathogenic fungal species (Alternaria alternata, Cochliobolus sativus, Drechslera halodes, Fusarium moniliforme and F. oxysporum). The fungicides reduced germ tube production and radial growth of all fungi, and the reduction increased with increase in concentration. The suppressive effect of fungicides on spore survival in soil cultures was also noticed but seemed to be lower than in agar application.
