Comparative study on the methods evaluating surface erosion on an example of mountain village

Potential, current and real erosion hazard in 5-degree scale were evaluated on 68 plots of arable land in Konina village. The data were compared to soil losses counted using the USLE quotient. Although the mean soil loss values increase in successive degrees (1-5) a considerable spread and partial coverage of loss values attributed to successive erosion degrees were noted. Potential erosion did not consider land use nor protective means giving an overestimated image of degradation in comparison to the reality; current and real erosion brought the image closer to existing state. The system of erosion assessment based on ordinal scale ought to be replaced by the USLE/RUSLE or WEPP type
