[Chemical contamination of selected plants cultivated in the region of the Mazovian Rafinery and Petrochemical Works]

In the years 1986-89, an investigation was carried out on the effects of emissions from the Mazovian Refinery and Petrochemical Works in Plock on the crop plants within a 12-18 km radius around the Petrochemical Plant. The content of heavy metals: lead, cadmium, copper, zinc, chromium, iron, nickel and vanadium was analysed in the grains of: wheat, rye, barley and oats, and in potato tubers, as well as the content of five polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(e)pyrene, fluorantene, chrysene and pyrene in wheat and rye grain and in potato bulbs.
