Herbicide contamination of the surface and ground water

The study covered two areas: model investigations and water contamination monitoring in the field. The model investigations involved a lysimeter experiment in which movement of the active components into drainage water was evaluated. The experiment layout (tillage method, soil type, plant stand, herbicides used) was aimed at simulating natural farming conditions. An additional irrigation of 220 and 230 mm and a second herbicide application increased by 50 percent were designed to show the effect of those parameters on the movement of herbicide active components to ground water. A model study concerning the decomposition dynamics of small doses of herbicides in the surface water was conducted too
