Celmar's plantations are based on a broad forest research programme, developed in Maranhao State since 1980. Nowadays the company uses clones of hybrids of Eucalypts and selected seeds of E. urophylla. Eucalypts has high growth potential in the region and significant gains can be achieved by genetic improvement. The best 20 clones of Eucalypts hybrids are showing a growth rate of 69,8 m3/year/ha
