[New varieties of a spring rape created through the using a cell biology method]

In Ukraine two spring rape varieties Klitynny 1 and Klitynny 8 has been bred by using methods of cell biology, namely protoplast fusion. The former variety has 42.3 % of erucic acid-free oil and 23.4 % of protein in seeds and 1.3 % of glucosinolates in rapeseed cake. It is resistant to false mildew, phomosis and Alternaria. From 1992 to 1995 it was in the state variety trial and in 1996 was recommended for growing in the Ukraine's Steppe, Forest-Steppe and Forest zones. Oil content in Klitynny 8's seeds is 49.2 %. The oil is free of erucic and eicosenic acids. Rapeseed cake glucosinolates content is 0.71 %. Klitynny 8 is highly resistant to false mildew, phomosis, Alternaria.
