English. The main chestnut stands of the Marches region are located in the Ascoli Piceno province and these chestnut forests are an important economic source for this area. To value this mountain production, investigations on the phytosanitary situation and on some undescribed chestnut varieties living in this province were carried out. A new variety of marron and three of chestnut were identified. The local chestnut variety Pallante is endangered and is present with few trees in the old stands. The chestnut blight is the main disease spreading in the Piceno area, but the damages are less severe for the predominance and natural spread of the hypovirulence. Many chestnut trees in the stands are regrowing. The abandon of the chestnut orchards and stands is the main factor of their decrease

Fra le iniziative volte a valorizzare le produzioni di montagna, sono state eseguite alcune indagini sulla situazione fitosanitaria degli impianti e sull'assortimento varietale locale ancora non molto conosciuto. Sono state identificate una nuova varieta' di marroni e tre di castagne, delle quali la Pallante e' in pericolo d'estinzione. Il cancro della corteccia e' la malattia piu' diffusa nella zona, ma non puo' piu' essere considerato un fattore limitante per il predominio dell'ipovirulenza, che ha permesso la spontanea ripresa vegetativa degli impianti.
