Bulawayo-Matabeleland-Zambezi: Water supply feasibility study

Bulawayo-Matabeleland-Zambezi Water Project is about tapping water from the Zambezi river to Bulawayo. The city of Bulawayo is Zimbabwe's second largest city with an estimated population of 850 000 in 1995. It is an important industrial centre and focal point of national and international communications. The feasibility study analyses the existing water supply conditions and presents a water resources development plan which will meet the water supply requirements of the City of Bulawayo and Matabeleland North along the pipeline corridor for the next 25 years and a feasibility study of the project recommended for implementation. The Environmental Impact Assessment study describe the potential effects on people. Natural vegetation and animals by the implementation of project. The project area is approximately a 60 kilometre wide corridor along the railway and road between the Zambezi River and Bulawayo, including among other things and two dam sites at the confluence of Gwayi-Umguza and Gwayi-Shangani dams
