Economic parameters of agricultural production in regions of Slovak Republic

The paper is discussing the evolution of economic parameters of agricultural production in the favoured and less favoured areas of Slovakia. As the analysis has shown, current policies have failed to encourage less favoured area farmers to switch to a low-input model of agriculture. This can be attributed to the fact, that in both regions farmers, receipts still remain dependent mostly on prices. In less favoured areas, direct payments provide cost compensation only for 19% of farmers. Area payments disbursed to farmers in less favoured areas did not compensate farmers fully for their per hectar income deficiency. Loss-making farming has sustained here thus deteriorating the overall efficiency of Slovak agriculture.
