The dependence of the instantaneous content of nitrates in the kernels on the germination capacity was studied in following grasses: Festuca pratensis, Lolium multiflorum, Festulolium Becva, Phleum pratense and Trisetum flavescens in the course of ripening of the seed stands. The concentration of nitrates in kernels decreases consistently with ripening and increasing germination capacity. Any distinct diferences of nitrates concentration in cultivars of the same species in the course of ripening were found. The concentration of nitrates in the kernels from the fertilized plots [110 kg N.ha*[-1)] and from the plots without fertilizing were nearly analogous in the course of ripening.
