In einfachen Versuchen mit Plattchen aus Pinus ponderosa-Splintholz wurde uberpruft, ob Trichoderma harzianum, ein fur biologische Schutzmassnahmen vorgesehener Pilz, in der Lage ist, die Aktivitat holzzerstorender Pilze zu verhindern. Obwohl der Pilz die auf Trametes versicolor und Gloeophyllum trabeum zuruckzufuhrenden Gewichtsverluste und Enzymaktivitaten deutlich verminderte, konnte er die Aktivitat dieser Pilze nicht unterdrucken. Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass die zum biologischen Holzschutz vorgesehenen Organismen den Holzabbau zwar verlangsamen aber nicht vollstandig verhindern konnen. Durch Zugabe von Glukose oder Mannose konnte die Aktivitat von T. harzianum nicht gesteigert werden, da die holzzerstorendenPilze ebenfalls gefordert wurden. Die Frage, ob man sich allein auf Organismen zum biologischen Schutz von Holz gegen holzzerstorende Pilze verlassen kann, muss erneut uberdacht werden.
