Due to the fact that the decision variables change with great dynamics, the management of the food industry is forced to investigate new strategic options to keep and strengthen its competitive position. This is true specifically for the German and European dairy industries. Adjustments are necessary because of the realisation of the Common Market, the liberalisation of markets in Middle and Eastern Europe, the realisation of the GATT decisions and the growing globalisation of markets. In this context, this article deals with the question of internationalisation of the activities towards the countries in Middle and Eastern Europe, specifically with the selection of a strategy for market entry.

Aufgrund der sich mit grpsser Dynamik verandernden Rahmenbedingungen stellt sich dem Management der Ernahrungsindustrie die Aufgabe, fur die Erhaltung und Starkung der Wettbewerbsposition neue strategische Optionen in Erwagung zu ziehen. Dies gilt in besonderem Masse auch fur die deutsche und europaische Molkereiwirtschaft, fur die sich durch die Realisierung des EU-Binnenmarktes, die Offnung der Markte in den mittel- und osteuropaischen Staaten (MOE-Staaten), die Umsetzung der GATT-Beschlusse und die znehmende Globalisierung der Markte erheblicher Anpassungsbedarf ergibt.Der vorliegende Beitrag beschaftigt sich in diesem Kontext mit der Frage der Internationalisierung der Unternehmensaktivitaten in Richtung mittel- und osteuropaische Staaten.
