Effects of photoperiod and GA3 on flowering of Godetia [Clarkia amoena - cut flowers]

The present study was initiated in order to gain information on the response of 4 new F1-hybrid cultivars of Godetia amoena to different planting times (December 6 and February 24) and combinations of photoperiod (natural daylight, natural daylight plus 3 and natural daylight plus 6 h of incandescent light applied as extension of daylength) and gibberellic acid (0 and 100 ppm GA3). The interval planting-anthesis was 106 days from December planting and 70 days from the February one. In all the cultivars both flower initiation and development were enhanced under long day conditions. Supplementary lighting improved the quality of the flowers. Stems were much longer in plants grown under long day conditions. The plants were erected and their flowers were concentrated at the top of the stem. GA3 has increased stem elongation, but produced flowering stems of worse quality: the stems were thinner and lighter, with fewer flowers
Show more [+] Less [-]Italian. E' stata valutata la risposta di Godetia amoena all'illuminazione fotoperiodica ed al trattamento con GA3. Il protocollo sperimentale e' stato impostato sul confronto fattoriale tra 4 cultivar di Godetia F1, 2 epoche di impianto (6 dicembre e 24 febbraio), 3 regimi di illuminazione (illuminazione naturale, illuminazione naturale piu' 3 e piu' 6 ore di illuminazione supplementare) e 2 dosi di acido gibberellico (0 e 100 ppm GA3). Il ciclo produttivo e' passato da 106 a 70 giorni dalla prima alla seconda epoca d'impianto. In media, l'illuminazione supplementare ha prodotto un anticipo di 12 giorni. Gli steli sono risultati piu' lunghi di 7 e 13 cm nelle piante allevate con +3 e +6 ore di luce. Il trattamento con GA3 ha aumentato la lunghezza dello stelo principale rispetto al controllo (+25%), mentre si e' assistito ad una progressiva riduzione del diametro dello stelo principale e del numero di steli secondari con un complessivo peggioramento qualitativo dello stelo fiorale. Nella prima epoca di impianto gli steli sono risultati piu' lunghi, mentre il numero di steli secondari e' diminuito. Nessuna differenza e' stata riscontrata tra le cultivar a confronto in relazione ai trattamenti applicati
