Effect of nitrogenous nutrition and saccharose foliar application on yield parameters of radish
1999
Kovacik, P. (Slovenska Polnohospodarska Univ., Nitra (Slovak Republic))
Overfertilization with nitrogen coused mainly an increase of leaf biomass, but radish bulb yield was effected adversely. Pre-harvest saccharose application positively influenced bulb yield and negatively leaf yield under the both testing levels of nitrogen nutrition. Saccharose application restricted more expressively a nitrate accumulation in leaves than in bulbs. With rational fertilization the content of NaN03 in bulbs has changed insignificantly after saccharose application, but with overfertilization its reduction was significant. Nitrogen fertilization influenced nitrate content in bulbs more significantly than in leaves. The leaves cumulated more nitrates than bulbs. All variants tested within the experiment excepting rational nitrogen fertilization followed by pre-harvest saccharose application showed negative effect on vitamin C content in radish bulbs.
