For the measurement of soil penetration resistance, the penetrometer P-BDH 3A was used. This device consisted of optoelectronical sensors of force and position, and a one-chip microprocessor and data memory, with memory space for about 500 measurements in the field. Measurements can be executed in the range of 0 to 6 MPa of penetration resistance and to a depth of 50 cm. The soil samples were used to determine the bulk volume, reduced bulk volume and soil moisture content. The given presentations of penetration measurements clearly show that the measurement of penetration resistance with the aid of a cone probe characterizes the change of state of soils in a measured horizon.
