Soil compaction due to sugar beet sowing units

The aim of this work was to monitor laboratory germination of sugar beet with respect to soil moisture content of the layer below the seed location and the intensity of its compaction. From the results, the following conclusion was made: for each soil moisture content, there exists an optimal value of average pressure which results in maximum emergence rate.
