[Seaweed briquets making from Gracilaria seaweed species for international markets]

To minimize volume of raw-seaweed, an experiment of making seaweed briquets has been done. The seaweed of the species Gracilaria was mixed with seaweed glue and pressed using a press equipment in 5 and 10 minutes. The tests showed that the briquets pressed in 10 minutes had higher density (0,521 grams/cubic cm). It has been demonstrated that by converting raw-seaweed into briquet forms, its volume could be reduced by one-tenth times, an advantage in packaging and shipping of seaweed
