The area of stands certified for seed crop for coniferous species is sufficient in the Czech Republic. The seed orchards are the important source of seed for Scotch pine and European larch. There is an exception for silver fir due to its relatively small area of stands certified for seed crop and unsatisfactory health state of stands. European beech and oaks, especially sessile oak, are short in seed supply. It may happen that the required amount of seed will be necessary to import, preferably from Slovakia. To get the seed of other deciduous species would not be difficult. The specific task is ensuring the elm seed because of the distinctive decline of these species from the species composition of forest stands. It future this would be solved by establishing the seed orchards.
