This report covers the period September 1st, 1987 to August 31st, 1988. It seeks to be comprehensive in its coverage of CARDI's work in Belize, without being exhaustive. It is intended more for the general reader than for the technical specialist. Activities described fall under five main areas: Oil seed; Legumes; Cereals; CARICOM Farms and Technical Assistance and Training. It covers promoting the commercialisation of soybean, selection of sesame and pigeon pea varieties and expanding opportunities for peanut production. It also looks at the release of a new rice variety tackling problems of cultivating clay soils. Insights into biometrics, status of oil seeds, the Stann Creek development project, oil seeds in Corozal and peanuts in Cayo. At the end of each commodity report, readers are also referred to work that CARDI is conducting in this field in other countries.
