A method is defined to determine of lead in vinegars by means of potentiometric stripping analysis (PSA). The experimental parameters of analysis at mercury film electrode is investigated and optimized. Deaeration of the vinegars samples is not necessary. The lead content in investigated samples of alcohol, wine and cider vinegars is determined at deposition time of 600 s and average reproducibility of 7.2% expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD). The content of leaf is calculated by means of the standard addition method. The significant decreasing of the necessary deposition time to 180 s is obtained by the PSA with the constant reduction current imposed through the stripping step. All analyses were done using a computerized stripping analyzer of our own construction .
