It was found that: The germinative ability and vigour of seeds in both cultivars increased when stages of maturity progressed; Yellowing seeds and those containing ca 30 percent of dry matter (a 2-stage harvest) reached a full germinative ability and a full vigour in the pods; The method of electroconductivity of exudations gave incorrect information in the vigour of seeds of low vitality and husked at the green stage of maturity; The germinative ability and vigour of seeds were positively correlated with the content of dry matter in the seeds and their size, but negatively with the content in seeds of total nitrigen and phosphorus
