This article presents a method of determining complex technical state of a tractor engine. The method used is the acceleration method in which complex technical parameters of a given engine are determined while running the vehicle on free rolling cylinders/rolls. Dimensional fuel consumption and specific fuel consumption characteristics are recorded. There is also a possibility of measuring emissions. All these measurements are carried out in relation to the frequency of rotations and effective torque.
