Trees bark-soaking water suppressed disease intensity of the root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) on tomato plant

Disease intensity (indicated by number of galls formed on tomato roots) were caused by attack of the root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) on tomato plant watered with trees bark-soaking water of albasia (Albazzia falcata), mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), pine (Pinus merkusii), and surian (Toona sureni) have been studied in the glass house. The results of the experiment showed that all trees bark-soaking water tested significantly suppressed number of root galls (an indication of the root-knot attack) formed on tomato roots. The number of galls per tomato plant as effect of Albasia, Mahogany, Pine and Surian trees bark soaking water were as follows 61.67; 93.00; 57.30 and 88.00 respectively. Whereas, number of root galls on potato plant roots watered by normal water was 528.33. The application of trees bark-soaking water did not affect the weight of plant canopy but still affected on plant height at the 30 days after transplanting

Intensitas serangan nematoda bengkak akar (Meloidogyne spp.) pada tanaman tomat (dicirikan dengan jumlah gall yang tertentu pada akar) yang diberi perlakuan penyiraman air rendaman kulit kayu albasia (Albazzia falcata), mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla), pinus (Pinus merkusii), suren Toona sureni, telah diuji pada tanaman tomat di rumah kaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian air rendaman keempat kulit kayu tersebut secara nyata menekan jumlah gall (indikasi adanya infeksi akar tanaman tomat oleh Meloidogyne spp.) pada perakaran tanaman tomat. Jumlah gall per pohon yang terbentuk pada perlakuan pemberian air rendam kulit kayu masing-masing adalah 61,67 (kulit kayu albasia), 93,00 (kulit kayu mahoni), 57,30 (kulit kayu pinus) dan 88,00 (kulit kayu suren). Sedangkan pada perlakuan kontrol, jumlah gallnya adalah 528.33. Pemberian air rendaman kulit kayu tidak berpengaruh terhadap berat basah tanaman tanpa akar, tetapi masih mempengaruhi tinggi tanaman pada umur tanaman 30 hari setelah pindah tanam
