Conversion of the silvicultural system coppice with standards forest to high forest (on example of forests in the protected landscape area Cesky Kras) in the Czech Republic
1999
Poleno, Z. (Ceska Zemedelska Univ., Prague-Suchdol (Czech Republic))
Development and present state of stands are evaluated in the coppice-with-standards forest. The last residues of this silvicultural system are currently induced in the coppice forest or in the high forest because the classical management of coppice-with-standards forest has been abandoned in the last decades. An indirect conversion is proposed-through general regeneration. With respect to a number of non-wood-producing functions in the Protected Landscape Area Cesky kras, and as coppice-with-standards forests are highly uneven-aged, it is recommended to use a very slow conversion by selection felling in this area that would alloow parallel transition to selection forest.
