Spcial importance and function of Robinia pseudoacacia in ecological conditions of lowland areas of Slovakia

The article presents the facts about origin and distribution of Robinia pseudoacacia, historical review about its introduction and about the first experiments with planting of this wood species in the area of Slovakia. Biological, ecological and breeding properties of Robinia pseudoacacia are evaluated in details as well as the actual possibilities of using the robinia wood in various branches. The high production of honey in robinia stands is shown reaching the value of timber production. This wooden species can be used in protection and creation of environment in ecological conditions of lowland areas of Slovakia.
